On Saturday, October 7, the Cabool eighth grade volleyball team hosted the Texas County Tournament and finished in first place. Teams in attendance were Cabool, Houston, Licking, Raymondville, and Success.

To start the day off the Cabool eighth grade team played Raymondville. Scores were 25-15 and 25-11. Mali Brookshire led this match with 4 aces. Alexis Hunter led with 4 kills.

The next game Cabool played Licking. Scores were 24-26, 25-15 and 15-13. Brookshire led this match with 8 aces, and Hailey Shannon had 7 kills.

"The girls wanted this game bad since they had lost to Licking previously in the season. We let them have the first game but came back and got them the next two. I was proud of them,” Coach Julia Reaves said.

Following this game Cabool played Houston. Scores were 25-13 and 25-16. Brookshire led this match with 5 aces. Alexis Hunter and Shannon led with 5 kills each.

The last game of the day was Cabool versus Success. Scores were 25-6 and 25-11. Shannon led with 7 aces. Hunter led with 5 kills.

"I am so proud of the girls and this season. They worked hard and got better every game. I am excited to see what these girls do in high school."
